栃木市は、江戸時代から例幣使街道の宿場町、また水運で栄えた商人町として栄えたことから「北関東の商都」と呼ばれました。蔵の街大通りや穏やかに流れる巴波川周辺には、重厚な見世蔵や白壁の土蔵群が今でも残っています。
